  Kate Winslet ends marriage number two

  Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes are separating after nearly 7 years of marriage.

  It is unclear why the pair, who married in 2003, have decided to split, but rumours speculate that their recent partnership on ‘Revolutionary Road’ may have caused problems within their relationship.

  Kate who co-stars with fellow ‘Titanic’ star, Leonardo Dicaprio, said it was often awkward filming love scenes in front of Mendes who directed the film. Kate forgot to mention his name last year when she won a Bafta for her performance in ‘The Reader’ and this year she walked the Oscars red carpet alone. The couple have not been pictured together since Wimbledon last summer.

  Since the split has been announced, Kate has been photographed in Mexico enjoying a holiday with her two children, Mia (from previous marriage to cameraman Jim Threapleton) and Joe, son of Sam; Sam remains in New York.

  The split is said to be “amicable and is by mutual agreement”; there is unlikely to be a bitter divorce battle over their £30milllion estimated joint fortune.
